I always wanted to see Yayoi Kusama's work. Today, finally, I did. The exhibition was held at Seoul Arts Center and it was enormous. Kusama's works were divided into 1st, 2nd, 3rd floor. I think I spent almost 3 hours.
1. Bought a coffee. Started to drink it real fast because obviously drinks are not allowed.
- 1st Floor -
1. Goin' in.
2. First, as soon as I walked in, I could see many many red dot balloons. this is one of the many balloons, which is special because you can see this(mirrors and more balls) through the peep hole.
3. Also, one more special balloon. It is actually quite small space. Just a mirror effect.
4. "With all my love for tulips, I pray forever"
5. "Ladder To Heaven" : One of my faves. Mirrors up and down. Infinity...
6. "Narcissus Garden" : total 1500 mirrored balls. You can see the reflection of yourself. Yayoi got kicked out in Italy when she just set these on the street and sold these balls to the people without the permission.
- 2nd Floor -
2. Dogs... : She named these cuties after the Japanese idol group "Arashi".
3. Of course you know she loves pumpkins.
- 3rd Floor - (which was a highlight for me)
2. Cute table. Loved that they actually put some Korean snacks...
3. I got scold by staff when I sat on this bed. Don't blame me. Looked so damn cozy...
4. Lookin' all excited.
5. Yayoi, being Yayoi.
6. Penis-covered rowing boat...
7. "Obliteration Room" : first, take your shoes off, get some stickers, put stickers in that room wherever you want. LOVED IT. It was just a white room at first.
8. Me, bringing my inner Yayoi in Obliteration Room.
9. Third highlight ; "Infinity Mirrored Room", there was water on the floor except the place you are supposed to step on. But you can totally step on the water. Only 4 people can go in at the same time...
10. Souvenir Time ; Eco bags, postcards, mugs, notes, files, frames.
11. I'M HOME ; and I got these. I picked my fave piece when I picked the postcard. Loved the meaning of the painting. You can see they never make an eye contact...
