After
I graduated university in Seoul, I told my mom that I am going to go to Europe
and just be there for a month or so. Because 1. I really wanted to travel and
explore countries that I hear everyday that they are awesome, 2. I really could
use some break of my life. I felt like i had never taken a decent break since I
was in the elementary school until the graduation of university. For those who
may not understand what I am saying quite yet, let me explain. When I was in
the middle school, I went to some academies after school and came home 2 or 3
in the morning studying for 3 years and high school was simply repeat. For
those who thinking 'why though', 1.Korea is crazy about studying more after
school at the academy so that it is like natural things to do for almost every
young teenagers. Yup, it is pretty tough to be a teenager here, 2. I just need to be good at what I do.
The
first thing I did as soon as I got paid for the first time was purchasing a
ticket to London. I worked for 4 more
months until 31st December, 2014, quit my job and then I was busy to getting
ready for my travel for 20 days.
I
was so scared and freaking out 3 days before I leave, i actually calculated how
much money i will lose if I cancel all of it. But then, I decided not to cancel
because I would lose too much. I was in Europe, more specifically, London,
Amsterdam, Berlin, München, Rome,
Barcelona, Toulouse and Paris for 75 days and I called Korean Air in order to
delay my plane for 5 times because I had planned to stay only for 35 days at
first and also I did not want to leave.
I
did not want to be just a tourist. I just wanted to feel like I am part of the
city. I used Airbnb except for Toulouse and Paris and it was a hell of an
experience because you get to have your host that you can immediately
communicate as soon as you arrive in the city and your room with cozy bed and
most of the times amazing interior also, sometimes cute little pets. So much
better than a hotel room, in my opinion. In France, I had amazing friends who
loved me unconditionally and fed me, cared for me like bunch of angels or
sometimes like a mommy. I can say I was not just a tourist. Maybe it is because I've never considered myself Korean mentally, I guess. I did some pretty
badass things and I was so glad people would not notice it that much because people do
not expect Asian girl who travels to be bad. I met nice people but also crazy
ones. Well... I think occasionally I was one of them also. This trip changed(or should I say transformed?) me so much, I
became braver, fearless and I also worked on my Idgaf attitude pretty damn hard.
I left Seoul, Incheon
international airport on 20th, January for London and came back to Seoul from
Paris on 5th, April. So many photos to edit, too many crazy things but anyways... here we go.
